A major indoor and outdoor sports facility for BMX, scooters, skateboards and mountain bikes, welcoming everyone from complete beginners to elite riders.
Junction 4 Urban Sports Village is one of Darwen’s most exciting sporting attractions, bringing together indoor and outdoor facilities for BMX, skateboarding, scooters and mountain biking.
The site includes an indoor park with a bowl and resi-ramp, a competition-level all-weather outdoor park, street plaza and dirt jumps. Whether you are learning your first trick or training at an elite level, there is plenty of space to ride, progress and be part of the community.
Junction 4 is not just for experienced riders. Dedicated beginner sessions provide a quieter introduction to the park, while BMX clubs, one-to-one tuition and skateboard coaching help riders build their skills and confidence.
The team also works with local primary schools, delivering term-time balance bike and BMX sessions designed to develop bike control, confidence and a love of being active from an early age.
Junction 4 has been transformed from one of the country’s smaller skateparks into a major urban sports facility capable of welcoming beginners, Olympians and national competitions.
Its £1.2 million development vision was supported by British Cycling and the Darwen Town Deal Board. Junction 4 was also one of four local projects backed through the Board’s initial £750,000 government-funded “quick win” programme, helping create better sporting opportunities, attract visitors and strengthen Darwen’s growing reputation for urban sports.
